Mountain Home, AR is a growing, bustling business center located in North Central Arkansas in the Ozark Mountains. NorFork Lake and Bull Shoals Lake along with the North Fork River and White River surround the city of Mountain Home.  Mountain Home is a suburban community with a population of about 12,000. The median household income in the city is $37,540.  64% of the residents over the age of 18 are married and 32% of the families have children under the age of 18. Out of the total population in the city of Mountain Home, 97% of the people speak English and 2% of the people speak Spanish. The homeownership rate is 59.2% and the average commute time in is 12 minutes.  The average car ownership is 2 cars per household.

Even though Mountain Home is located in a rural setting, it offers the amenities and conveniences of a larger, urban setting.  It is a big town in small town clothes.  The city is home to service businesses, retail stores, and manufacturers. Each year the city welcomes thousands of visitors to experience several recreational opportunities.  Below the Bull Shoals Dam, sits the Bull Shoals-White River State Park which offers 105 campsites, picnic areas, playground, scenic trails, and a full-service dock. All around the year events, tours and nature programs take place at the park. Among residents of Mountain Home city, canoeing is one of the top outdoor activities along with fishing, hiking, and camping.

The city also features a campus of Arkansas State University and a regional medical center that is staffed with more than 100 physicians. Apart from this, Mountain Home also has excellent public and private schools and nationally known golf course facilities.

Originally the city was called Rapp's Barron.  In the early 1830s, the first home was built in the area by Simeon "Rapp" Talburt, who was also the owner of the land. However, in 1856, the city was renamed as Mountain Home. It was in the year 1857 when the first post office was established in Mountain Home.

The winter in Mountain home is cooler and wet, whereas the summers tend to be warm and muggy. Throughout the year, the climate tends to be partly cloudy.  On average Mountain Home receives 43 inches of rainfall per year and 9 inches of snow..
